Fox News announced earlier Tuesday that it will no longer be on air in the UK. This decision comes after Twenty First Century Fox released a statement citing their desire to focus more on the U.S. market and the U.S. audience. Here is some of what Fox News Reps had to say on the matter:
“We have concluded that it is not in our commercial interest to continue providing Fox News in the U.K.”
This basically means that Fox News’s audience was crappy compared to the United States and when you have no audience, you have no advertisers.
Fox News currently has a 2.2 million primetime viewer average where as in the UK, Fox News is lucky to get 15,000 viewers. Other networks such as BBC and ITV are currently the dominators in News programming there in the UK.
Fox News is no stranger to controversy and spurts of dwindling audience numbers so it begs to question, will the UK outage have a drastic impact on their broadcasting here in the U.S.?
