Earlier today, while being interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime talk show the “Ellen Show”, Miley Cyrus got emotional when the interview steered toward the catastrophic Hurricane Harvey and Houston flood victims. Ellen initiated the interview by making small talk then went right into talking about Harvey.
Ellen DeGeneres plugged Miley’s non-profit organization by saying this:
“I want to put a spotlight on The Happy Hippie foundation, because that is your foundation, and you do so much good,” DeGeneres said, during an interview with Cyrus. “Miley has just told us backstage that she’s donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief.”
Seconds later as the Hurricane Harvey talk continued, the popular singer broke down into tears and could hardly contain herself with emotions. She replied to Ellen with this:
“I can’t really talk about it,” she wept. “It just really makes me just really upset.”
Clearly showing deep emotions, Cyrus went into saying more:
“My grandma’s sitting here. My mom’s here, and I go home to my seven dogs. If I didn’t have that anymore, it’d just be really hard.”
She then added:
“I’m really happy to help anyway that I can, and I hope people understand and can put themselves in those people’s shoes, and just know what it’s like to have everything taken away from you.”
Miley Cyrus is just one of many celebs who have donated huge amounts of money towards the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. It is currently estimated that Hurricane Harvey cased over $20 billion dollars in damages across Texas.
